1. Responsible party
Baleseng Co (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2019/428348/07, trading as The Paid Squad, is the responsible party for personal information processed through our website, waitlists, programmes, purchases, member spaces, live sessions, and support channels.
2. Information we may collect
- Identity and contact details, including your name, email address, country, and account details.
- Purchase, subscription, invoice, and payment-status information. Payment-card details are normally handled by the payment provider, not stored by us.
- Profile, application, diagnostic, survey, and onboarding information you choose to provide.
- Community posts, messages, uploads, session participation, support requests, and feedback.
- Learning progress, completed activities, leaderboard points, achievements, and access history.
- Technical information such as device type, browser, approximate location from IP address, security logs, page requests, and cookie or analytics identifiers where used.
- Marketing preferences and records of consent, objections, or unsubscribes.
Please do not send sensitive information that we have not asked for.
3. Cookies and website analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 only after you choose “Allow analytics.” It helps us understand visitor counts, traffic sources, pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device information, and interactions such as scrolls or outbound-link clicks. We do not use this setup for advertising, and Google signals are disabled.
If you choose “Continue without analytics,” the Google Analytics library is not loaded and analytics storage remains denied. Your choice is stored in your browser. You can clear this website’s stored data to make the choice again.
Google may process analytics information outside South Africa under its own privacy terms. Please do not enter personal information into website URLs or fields not designed to collect it.
4. How we use information
- Provide the website, programmes, member area, live sessions, community, and support.
- Process purchases, subscriptions, cancellations, refunds, and account access.
- Personalise learning paths, track progress, operate achievements, and show leaderboard information according to member settings.
- Send service messages and marketing you requested or may lawfully receive.
- Protect members, enforce our terms, prevent fraud, investigate abuse, and preserve evidence.
- Improve our offers, content, website, and member experience through analysis and feedback.
- Meet legal, accounting, tax, regulatory, and dispute-resolution duties.
5. Why processing is lawful
Depending on the situation, we process information with your consent, to perform a contract, to take steps you requested before a contract, to meet a legal duty, or for a legitimate interest that does not unfairly override your rights. Legitimate interests may include service improvement, security, fraud prevention, community moderation, record keeping, and legal enforcement.
You may withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.
7. Processing outside South Africa
Some providers may store or process information in another country. Where information crosses borders, we take reasonable steps to use a lawful transfer basis and appropriate safeguards as required by POPIA.
8. How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, the member relationship, security, legal claims, and tax or accounting requirements. Retention periods depend on the record. We delete, de-identify, or securely archive information when it is no longer required.
9. Security and incidents
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information from loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. No online system can promise perfect security. If a security compromise creates a legal notification duty, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected people as required.
10. Your rights
Subject to POPIA and other applicable law, you may ask whether we hold your personal information, request access, ask for correction or deletion, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain about our handling of your information. We may need to verify your identity before acting.
Send a request to reports@paid-squad.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator through inforegulator.org.za.
11. Children
The Paid Squad is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the authorisation required by law.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as our services and legal duties change. The effective date will show when the current version began.
